Ask Dr Miriam.

QI have a lump in my throat all time when I swallow. Is there anything I can buy to get rid of it? AI suffered with a lump in my throat myself and I think I know what it's down to. When we swallow, the two surfaces of the throat come together and it can feel like a lump.

Under normal circumstances we don't notice it, but if we're anxious, depressed or stressed out we become obsessed with the sensation of a lump in the throat.

I was stressed by taking my final exams. As soon as the exams were over the lump in my throat disappeared.

For this reason, doctors refer to it as globus hystericus and it's nearly always psychological in origin.

It was in my case and I suspect it is in yours. See your doctor and think of ways to downplay the stress in your life.
