Asian bistro to open at Riverdale development.

Hudson, a commercial real estate group specializing in retail, has executed a lease for Kabuki within a shopping center in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.

This will be the restaurant's first location in New York City.

"We are excited to kickstart the leasing in this project with a tenant like Kabuki, that will serve the community as well as complement the existing tenant base in the market," said Jason D. Richter, managing principal of Hudson.

"With an additional 18,000 s/f to lease, it was important to curate the right co-tenancy to set the stage for the remainder of this project."

Hudson represented the landlord on this transaction while Aries Deitch & Endelson represented the tenant.

Hudson's Greg Levine and Amie Segel were responsible for bringing the stakeholders to the table which, according to the company, was not an easy feat considering the early stage of leasing in the project.

The Riverdale and Kingsbridge section of the Bronx in particular is a fairly mature market for street retail, though the last few years has brought an influx of national andregional operators, many of which have landed their first borough location there.

Kabuki joins Chipotle, Petco, Smashburger, City MD and Buffalo Wild Wings in choosing Riverdale and Kingsbridge for their first Bronx location.

The new Kabuki will be located within a shopping center located at 5740 Broadway, which is between BJ's Wholesale and Stop and Shop. The site has a full parking lot, over 250 ft. of frontage and 13 ft. ceiling heights in new construction.

The focus for this new Kabuki space will will be hibachi, sushi and asian bistro, similar to their six other existing locations throughout New York.

"We are excited to attract such a well-established operator to open their first location in the five boroughs in Riverdale, Bronx," said Daniel Alvarez of Storage Deluxe Realty, the developer of the property.

"We strongly believe their unique Asian Bistro and Hibachi concept fills a void in the market and will be a great draw to the Broadway corridor."
