Asiacontent.com and Reuters Tie-Up to Deliver News and Highlights From the 2000 Olympic Games to Mobile Devices in Asia.

SINGAPORE, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ --

Asiacontent.com (Nasdaq: IASIA) and Reuters (Nasdaq: RTRSY), the global information, news and technology group, announced today a tie-up to deliver news and highlights from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney to mobile devices across Asia. Two of Asia's leading telecommunications companies, Singapore Telecom Mobile and SMART Communications, Inc. in the Philippines have signed up for the mobile services. Reuters and Asiacontent.com will deliver to SingTel Mobile's 1.15 million and Smart Communications' 1.8 million subscribers breaking news and highlights from the Olympics Games in short messaging service (SMS) and WAP formats to mobile phones and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants).

Reuters will provide comprehensive international Olympic news and highlights as they unfold in Sydney, Australia. Reuters has assigned over 150 personnel to provide comprehensive multi-media coverage of the 15,000 athletes and officials from around 200 countries. Event coverage and a wide-ranging off-field file will bring the text output to an estimated 150 stories a day, with a full results service generating a further estimated 120 items a day. Asiacontent.com will contribute its technical tools and expertise in developing delivery platforms for the distribution of real-time data and content to mobile phone operators and Web properties. Asiacontent.com's editors and content management teams will format the Reuters Olympic news and results feed into SMS and WAP formats, further extending Asiacontent.com's multi-lingual content and media publishing platform.

"The so-called Internet Olympics provide the opportunity for sports enthusiasts worldwide to gain an unprecedented level of coverage throughout the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. We are thrilled to partner with Reuters to provide Olympic news and results in SMS and WAP formats on handhelds, PDAs and other mobile devices in Asia," said Chris Justice, CEO of Asiacontent.com. "This exciting Olympic interactive initiative is an extension of Asiacontent.com's multi-lingual content and media publishing platform and service to audiences in Asia."

Asiacontent.com is Asia's leading online producer of content and media properties and has rolled out 24 Web sites across eight key Asian Internet markets in six languages. This deal follows an earlier announcement between SingTel Mobile and Asiacontent.com and its sg.sports.com site, which featured Euro 2000 up-to-the-minute results, news and tips. Asiacontent.com is pleased to announce the latest extension of its online services to deliver mobile data services to the region's telecommunications operators.

"The partnership between Asiacontent.com and Reuters is a natural fit for both companies," said Lester Langford, Business Development Manager, Reuters Asia. "Asiacontent.com enables Reuters to extend its comprehensive multi-media coverage of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney to a much wider audience by making available up to 270 daily news updates during the event in SMS and WAP formats to handhelds, PDAs and other mobile devices in Asia."
