ON Monday I exclusively revealed Russian musician Vasily Petrenko as the new conductor of the Liverpool Philharmonic.

Now, here's another exclusive ...

Soccer mad Liverpool supporter Vasily, 29, getting the feel of being the captain of the Reds.

The St Petersburg musician donned Steve Gerrard's No. 8 shirt on a visit to Anfield with his wife, Eugenie, and a team of Phil players.

But it was getting an opportunity to lift the European Cup in that particular setting which put Vasily's heartbeat upa beat or two. 'It was fantastic,' Vasily said, as he spelled out more stragegy for his own musicians and singers.

'I already have a repertoire of 30 operas. Now I intend to increase the involvement of the Philharmonic Choir in Liverpool concerts. Some of that will include concert performances of operas.'

And he added: 'Another thing I am interested in are mini-festivals of music from various countries. Of course I like conducting Russian music, but also music from right across Europe and America
