Artists' pounds 50,000 booster.
ACW support has been in the form of bursaries and career development grants for established artists and makers, either for timeout to concentrate on their own work, or for travel and research costs. Bursaries have gone to Newport photographer Susan Butler, who will use the cash to prepare work for an exhibition in Canada and Wales, and Cardiff painter Jonah Jones, who has been given pounds 1,000 for a retrospective show at St David's Hall.
Career development grants have gone to Cardiff snapper Marc Arkless, Caerphilly sculptor Darren Stanley Davies and Cardiff artist Alison Marchant. A grant of pounds 2,700 has gone to Not The Tate in Cardiff, a group promoting Grander Shadow, a multimedia event including work by artists who have graduated from Cardiff College of Art.
