Artist named Meghan Trainor blocked on social media for 'impersonating' namesake pop star.

An artist based in Seattle, Washington, USA, got blocked from her social media accounts for allegedly impersonating a pop star who, coincidentally, is her namesake

Meghan Trainor, 45, first shared on her Instagram account last Friday, March 1, that her YouTube account was terminated for allegedly impersonating Meghan Trainor, the singer behind such hits as 'All about That Bass' and 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You.'

A day later, Trainor also learned that her Twitter account was suspended for the same reason.

'I am not naive to digital space but the degree to which that happened, and I had no recourse, the swiftness of it is terrifying to me truly,' Trainor the artist told Gizmodo about her situation.

The artist also said in the report that she is aware of her namesake pop star's fame. She added that when 'All about That Bass' was first released in 2014, everyone she knew sent her the song's music video to notify her they share the same name.

'I was very aware that single happened,' Trainor said about the song. But when she realized that the pop star was getting more famous, the artist said that it never occurred to her that her namesake's fame 'would impact my ability to do my job.'

At one point, the artist revealed that the pop star even tried to buy her domain from her, which she turned down. 'That's where all my work is,' Trainor said.

Luckily, the artist was able to retrieve both her social media accounts back. 'With the massive volume of videos on our site, sometimes we make mistakes,' a YouTube spokesperson said. 'When an error is brought to our attention we act quickly to reinstate the videos or channels in question.'
