COLOURFUL artworks by the best illustrators in the land are on show on Tyneside.

The exhibition by The Association of Illustrators is visiting Gateshead and will showcase 80 original UK artworks.

The exhibition, at Gateshead Central Library, on Prince Consort Road, runs until April 9.

This Saturday, Newcastle-based illustrator Bethan Laker will help nine to 12-year-olds create their own work.

No experience is required and all materials are provided.

Places are limited and must be booked in advance by calling (0191) 433 8420.

The workshop is free and runs from 10am to 12noon.
