Arrests made after slaying; The World Today.
DETECTIVES in Italy hunting the killer of British exchange student Meredith Kercher dramatically arrested her female American housemate and two men.Amanda Knox, 20, a 24-year-old male Italian student and a Congolese man, 37, were all taken into custody by police in Perugia at around 7 am.
Miss Kercher's body was discovered last Friday under a duvet in her bedroom at the house she shared with Knox in the Viale Sant'Angelo.
The 21-year-old Leeds University student, from Coulsdon, south London, was partially-clothed and her throat had been cut.
Italian news agency Ansa said today's arrests were apparently made after Knox, believed to be from Seattle, broke down during questioning and confessed.
The agency named the other two suspects as Knox's Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito and Lumumba Diya, also known as Patrick.
