Arrest follows stand-off.

POLICE have made an arrest following a stand-off which lasted more than five hours in Blacon on Tuesday (May 14).

Officers were originally called to the scene following reports for the safety of a man at a property on Malvern Road.

Witnesses reported that the man was throwing items through the broken window on the second floor of the property, while trained police negotiators were in talks with him.

Members of the public were alerted to the incident at around 11am, with police warning people to avoid the area.

And Chester police tweeted shortly after 4.15pm: "Blacon update: A man has come out of the address on Malvern Road and has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

"Thank you for your patience and we will remain in the area for reassurance."

An extensive police cordon which had been in force for several hours was lifted soon after.
