Arrest after 'sex assaults on patients' ALERT.

A HOSPITAL worker has been arrested after claims patients on a stroke ward were sexually assaulted.

The staff member, held in February, has been released on bail and suspended.

Luton and Dunstable Hospital has written to all patients who stayed on ward 17 since September 2009, asking if they felt "anxious or uncomfortable".

Bedfordshire police said: "We are investigating a number of allegations of serious sexual offences on former patients of ward 17."

The hospital said in a statement: "Following recent allegations by patients about staff conduct on one of the adult wards, senior managers informed the police.

"The allegations do not relate to any clinical issues or medical treatment."
