Army wet wipes cry.

TOUGH marines have sent out an urgent SOS for supplies - of baby wipes.

They cannot spare their drinking water to wash themselves while on desert patrol in Afghanistan.

So they use wipes, which are expensive and scarce.

Residents of the troops' home town heard of their plight and began collecting a stash of packs.

They will be sent to 45 Commando in Helmand province later this month.

Businessman Dave Fair-weather, 42, who launched the appeal in Abroath, Angus, said: "They're crying out for them.

"It may sound like a joke but it's deadly serious."
