Army succeeds where prison fails.

I think your correspondent G B Butler is wrong with regard to young people and the army. It is not a question of what type of recruit they take - the point is the army appears to be the only people who can change these ne'er do wells.

Prison does not, nor do the Young Offenders' Institutions and certainly not ASBOs or CRASBOs.

As for the cost, it must certainly be cheaper than the thousands a week it costs to keep a young person in prison and in comfort for most of the time!
