Armenian Economic Association conference kicks off in Yerevan.

Yerevan. The Armenian Economic Association 2013 Conference got underway at Yerevan State University.

As press-service of the government reported, welcoming the audience, the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that there is a

growing interest toward this conference and the scope of its participants is expanding. "We must create an environment at Yerevan State

University, so that people will be motivated to conduct research," Sargsyan said. He also added that the contemporary world in crisis has

created additional difficulties for economists. "It is apparent that numerous [economic] patterns are not manifested very often. They are

replaced by other patterns, compelling economists to collaborate with the other professions," the Armenian premier said and added that

an attempt is made to grasp the new challenges Armenia may face.

"The international comparisons, and studies of the patterns manifested in the countries in transition help us better understand

our peculiarities and patterns," Tigran Sargsyan said.

Istanbul Armenian Daron Acemoglu, who is considered one of the world's top ten economists, delivered the first presentation at

the three-day conference.
