Armed raid accused had PS975 down his socks.

AN alleged robber arrested with PS975 stuffed down his socks claimed he had just won at the bookies, the High Court heard yesterday.

Prosecutors also claimed Thomas Robin's fingerprint was found on a box picked up by an armed raider at Vivo on the Ormeau Road in South Belfast.

The 23-year-old of Raby Street, is accused of robbery and possession of a knife over the April 1 hold-up.

He was refused bail due to the risk of re-offending.

A judge was told a hooded man had approached staff brandishing a knife and said: "Open the f*****g till."

The robber made off with just over PS970 in cash. A defence lawyer said his client shops in the store and could have touched the box.

Denying bail Ms Justice Keegan held: "The Crown have made out a case in relation to re-offending and there is a risk [of that]."
