Armed cops on the street.

ARMED police officers took to the streets of Nuneaton on Easter Sunday.

They were following up reports of a firearm in the town but it turned out to be a false alarm.

The officers arrived to find that there was no danger as it was only a BB gun.

Specially-trained officers were sent out to the Eden Court area of the town at 5.15pm following reports that a firearm was seen in the area.

Inspector Michael Huntley explained what they found.

He said: "Following further enquiries a BB gun was located, which was subsequently handed to officers.

"It was established that no offences were committed and there was no risk to the public."

BB guns are not illegal but users can be arrested for having an imitation firearm on the streets.
