Argentines miss steak.

Byline: Ian Carbis

ARGENTINA may have collected maximum points in their opening two games, but they were not so successful in stocking up on their own food.

Agriculture officials in South Africa put a stop to their plans to bring in steak supplies from home.

"They never got a permit to bring the beef in.

"They wanted to, but it was declined," said Linda Tyrrell, chef at the University of Pretoria centre where the Argentines are staying.

She added that manager Diego Maradona hadn't minded too much.

"He's been very nice. What he wants we get him and we've got no problems," she said.
