Are you really covered? Homeowners and professional liability. (Association News).

Is your instrument insured properly? Many music professionals believe their homeowner's insurance will provide coverage for their instruments. In most cases, those we've talked with are very surprised to learn their homeowner's insurance will not cover instruments if they are used in "for-profit" activity. Separate coverage for your instrument often is necessary for it to be appropriately insured.

Listening to MTNA members, we also have learned that many members have no coverage to protect themselves professionally. Unfortunately, this is the way many feel about insurance coverage until they need it. Those who assume they do not need general and professional liability insurance leave themselves open to several liability exposures. Even if you are not teaching at home, many music facilities, music stores, churches and studio facilities require that the instructor or studio owner provide proof of liability insurance coverage before allowing them to sign a lease or rental agreement.

The Robert H. Clarkson Insurance Agency, in conjunction with MTNA, recognizes these needs and makes these types of coverage available to all members. We have listened to your requests and now have telephone and online application services for the General and Professional Liability, Abuse Defense and Musical Instrument Plans.
