Posner, Ernst. Ed. by Ken Munden.

Society of American Archivists

215 pages

The first edition, published in 1967 by Public Affairs Press, celebrated Posner's 75th birthday, and compiled essays on the theory of archives that he had written between his 1939 emigration from Germany and his 1960 retirement form American University in Washington. He was trained as a historian, and was instrumental in bridging the emerging archival profession in the US with European traditions. The new edition includes an introduction by Angelika Menne-Haritz, Vice-President of the Federal Archives of Germany, and an index.
