100 Years Ago Charles Scott, of no fixed abode, was charged on suspicion of stealing a valuable ring. It appeared that the prisoner pawned the ring, in 18-carat gold with five diamonds set in a half hoop. The Birmingham prisoner stated that his mother gave him the ring but he was unable to tell the police where she lived. A remand was granted until August 10 to give the police an opportunity to find the owner of the ring.
