1970: Brazil was awarded the Jules Rimet CupAfter being triumphant in every single match during the World Cup, Brazil was given the Jules Rimet Cup to keep, and another trophy was cast for the following year's winner.
In the group stage they beat Czechoslovakia 4-1, England 1-0 and Romania 3-2. In the quarter final the samba playing Brazilians met Peru thrashing them 4-2. In the semi-finals they faced yet another South American team meeting Uruguay. They were no match for the strong Brazilians either who were beaten 3-1. Italy had beaten West Germany 4-3 after extra time in the other semi-final, but they couldn't do anything against Brazil who won 4-1. The victory also gave Pele his third World Cup victory. Jairzinho also had an extremely successful tournament scoring in every game for Brazil.
