Archival serves way to masters singles.
Multi-championed masters player and defending champion Milton Jones eased his way into the finals with a double 21-8 win over Pete Brown. He would meet very talented Ed Archival in the finals. Archival also had an easy semifinal win, 21-6, 21-7, over Abe Mantell.
Archival is a seasoned veteran, with two excellent hands and a considerable variety of shots but without the record of Jones. This year belonged to Archival. After keeping Jones to a diminutive 9-points in game one, Archival saw Jones at his best, scoring just 6 in the second.
Archival, however, crushed Jones in the tiebreaker 11-2 for the championship.
First Round: Milton Jones d. Pete Brown (MI), 8, 8; Eddie Archival .d Abe Mantell, 7, 6.
Final: Archival d. Jones, 9, (6), 2.
