About CompactFlash Controller

The Arasan CompactFlash IP Core is silicon proven and meets the complete CompactFlash (CF) and CF+ specification Version 2.0. There are two types of CompactFlash devices: CompactFlash Storage Cards (CF), and CF+ Cards. CF Cards consists only of common memory data storage whereas CF+ is expanded to include the I/O devices or magnetic disk data storage, depending on the specific application. This Controller implements supports both. It has an AMBA AHB bus side interface. It supports both master and slave operations. There are three basic modes of operation supported: (1) PC card ATA using I/O mode, (2) PC card ATA using memory mode, and (3) PC card ATA using memory and true IDE mode.

About CompactFlash

The CompactFlash storage card is an ultra-small, removable data storage system. The specification is defined and controlled by the CompactFlash Association. The CF+ part of the specification adds additional card functionality including magnetic disk drive data storage and I/O cards such as Ethernet, serial, fax/modem, digital phone card, USB, barcode scanner, Bluetooth, 802.11 wireless LAN, and wireless digital cell phone cards, CF+ slots that accept CompactFlash, magnetic disk drives or I/O cards can be found in many consumer and computer products.
