Aquarium in Seaside marks 70 years.

Byline: The Register-Guard

SEASIDE - The Seaside Aquarium, one of the oldest privately owned aquariums in the world and the first to breed harbor seals, is observing its 70th anniversary this year.

On Friday, the aquarium will have the first of several celebrations by offering admission rates from 1937: 15 cents per adult and 10 cents per child.

The aquarium staff also has gathered photographs and objects from the aquarium's past 70 years, and is asking the public to provide more, general manager Keith Chandler said in a news release.

Photos and stories may be e-mailed to: aquarium@ seasideaquarium.com. They also may be sent via mail to: Seaside Aquarium, 200 N. Prom, Seaside OR 97138.
