The nine papers in this collection review studies on the transferable antibiotic resistance of oral biofilms, the performance of silane quaternary ammonium compounds applied to surfaces, methods for minimizing exposure to biofilms in hospital water distribution systems, and the need for more studies on biofilm growth in hot tubs. A paper written by the editor on preoperative skin antimicrobials was originally published in AORN 81 by Elsevier in 2005, and a 2004 evaluation of A-Dec ICX waterline tablets is reprinted with permission of the American Dental Association.
