Apple Trumps Samsung In Brand Popularity In China Plus Xiaomi Enters Top 5 Manufacturers List In World Ranking.

The South Korean conglomerate Samsung has been trumped by none-other-than Apple in China. Apparently, Samsung was ruling the roost for about two years before Apple took over. The notable China Brand Research Center (CBRC) has published the annual China Brand Power Index (C-BPI), revealing the change in ranking.

According to the report, the CBRC evaluated the brands' popularity by surveying a total of 13,500 people between the age group of 15 and 60. Plus, this survey was conducted across 30 cities between August 2013 and January 2014. In the process, the CBRC ranked the companies based on "brand recognition" and "brand loyalty," according to (http://www.phonearena.com/news/In-China-Apple-beats-Samsung-in-handset-popularity_id62548) Phone Arena .

Based on the report, Samsung fell-back primarily on the loyalty criterion. Samsung scored a respectable total of 566.6, which is apparently higher than last year's score by 24.6 points. Nonetheless, the interesting part is that, Nokia scored the second spot in last year's survey. With Nokia decimated this year, Apple has beaten down Samsung and clinched the numero uno position in China with 568.5 points.

According to the CBRC guidelines, a gap of fewer than 50 points denotes a weak lead. Meaning, the 1.9 points gap between Apple and Samsung is negligible. But then, Apple has made a huge leap from last year, which is commendable, says Phone Arena. The important point to be noted, however, is that the survey took place over a prolonged period of time, back when Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were not released. Even then, Apple got the better of Samsung.

With many woes haunting Samsung, it is clear that the company is working on fixing the prevailing troubles. To walk the talk, the tech giant started with introducing the aluminium-clad Galaxy A3 and A5 models with the much-required design change. Also if reports are true, the company is working to redesign the Galaxy S series of handsets. Meaning, the Galaxy S6 could be a surprising package with a new design. Nonetheless, Samsung has not uttered a word about any of the above news.

On the other hand, China's Xiaomi recently entered the list of top 5 smartphone makers in the world. Thanks to the Mi4 and the Redmi 1S smartphones, the Chinese manufacturer has tasted success in the form of packing high-end features at an affordable price tag. Having made an impact in China, the company has started making its presence felt in other countries as well, says SlashGear. Therefore, it is only matter of time before Xiaomi fights for the top spot.
