Apple Announces Distributorship for Ukraine

 PARIS, Nov. 18 ~PRNewswire~ -- In a move that marks the acceleration of Apple's (NASDAQ-NMS: AAPL) expansion in the former Soviet Union, Apple Computer Europe announced today that it has appointed a distributor, CDV Ltd., for Apple products in Ukraine.
 The Kiev-based company, will be responsible for the sales and marketing of all Apple products in the CIS's second most populous republic. "As one of the largest potential markets the Ukraine represents a great opportunity, " said Steven Minsky, general manager of CDV." By distributing localized Apple products through CDV, we will be able to give many more Ukrainian customers access to Apple technology." Prior to his position at CDV, Minsky, was sales and marketing director for the Apple IMC in Czechoslovakia, TIS, whose sales successes in fiscal year 1992 earned it Apple Computer Europe's "Most Successful European IMC" award. Minsky also held marketing positions at Proctor & Gamble Corporation and General Foods Corporation.
 Minsky's objectives for Apple in Ukraine, a market with 52 million people and about the size of France, are to provide complete Ukrainian language software, hardware, and documentation solutions for the major markets segments: large accounts and government, education, business, and consumer.
 Joining Minsky at the management helm of the company are partner Mr. Vasili Kovalchuk, PhD., formerly the Chief of the Department of Science and Technology of Ukraine, who holds an MBA from the International Management Institute in Kiev. Also joining Minsky is Ms. Natalia Havrishova. Havrishova holds an MBA from IMI Kiev as well as a PhD in Mathematics from the Kiev Polytechnical Institute.
 Minsky is the principal shareholder of the Ukraine IMC, CDV. Macron Ltd., the leading developer of Apple third party software in Czechoslovakia, and Mr. Fritz Borgstedt, the founder of Systematics, GmbH, one of the largest resellers for Apple Computer in Germany, also hold shares in the company.
