Apple's App Store downloads hit 50 billion mark.

Apple's App Store has hit another landmark--50 Billion Downloads. To celebrate the occasion with its global customer base, Apple had announced a $10,000 Gift Card for the lucky person to download the 50 billionth app. Brandon Ashmore from US turned out to be that fortunate winner. Another 50 customers were to receive Gift Cards worth $ 500 each for downloading apps right after the landmark download. It has taken Apple 14 months to jump from 25 Billion downloads to 50 Billion. The service now offers more than 850,000 apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users in 155 countries around the world. App developers have made more than $9 Billion since the launch in July 2008 while Apple, which receives 30% of revenue from App customers, has made nearly $3.9 Billion.
