Appeal for a ban on 'wasp nest' vuvuzelas.

THE infamous vuvuzelas are threatening to spoil the World Cup experience for TV viewers watching from their armchairs.

Hundreds of Twitter users posted tweets complaining about the trumpet-shaped horns during the opening game of the tournament yesterday.

Roger Law, aged 70, from Lapworth, near Solihull, said he so was livid with the noise from the horns that he watched the game on mute.

"The noise is unbelievable and it ruined the game for me," he said.

"You can hardly hear the commentators. It's like a wasp nest is right next to the camera."

One tweet said: "I have seen the future of football and it begins with the destruction of every vuvuzela ever made."

Another read: "The sound of the vuvuzela drives me insane."

Others even called for footballing authorities to ban the horns, which are extremely popular among South African football supporters.
