Appeal after car ploughed through wall.

A PENSIONER went back to sleep after being woken by a loud bang as a car ploughed through her garden wall.

The elderly householder was in bed when a car smashed into the wall at her home on Oxbridge Lane, Stockton, at about 5.30am yesterday.

A brick wall, metal fencing, bushes and other plants crumbled into the front garden involved a black BMW.

An entire brick wall down the side of the house fell into the pathway, largely in one piece.

The son of the woman who lives in the house, who did not want to be named, said: "My mum was in bed and she heard a big bang, but she went back to sleep.

"Other people have told me they heard it too, but I don't know who called the police.

"I didn't know anything about it until I came round to visit today. I was a huge shock. There is a lot of damage."

It is unknown yet whether there were any injuries in the incident.

Police are appealing for information, and have asked anyone who witnessed to call 101.
