Anti-India demos in Ganderbal, Baramulla.

SRINAGAR -- A youth hoisted a Pakistani flag on Power Development Department (PDD) tower during anti-India demonstrations in Ganderbal, occupied Kashmir.

Scores of youth resorted to stone-pelting and lobbed a petrol bomb on a police party headed by Station House Officers of Khir Bhawani and Lar police stations, Mir Imtiyaz and Jaspal Singh, near Barsoo crossing.

The device exploded with a bang and created panic among the policemen who resorted to heavy tear-smoke shelling. After the incident, the police apprehended a youth, Owais Ahmed Butt. The agitated youth assembled near Barsoo crossing, Kurhama and Kondabal and demanded immediate release of Owais.

Raising pro-freedom slogans, the youth hoisted Pakistani flag on a PDD tower and amid pro-freedom slogans clashed with the police deployed on the roads, resulting in the injuring of several persons. The police had to seek help of Indian Army to remove the flag.

Meanwhile, people took to the streets in Baramulla and staged demonstrations against the arrest of youth. Three people sustained pellet injuries during clashes with the police in Baramulla town. One of the injured was shifted to a Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

According to reports, the police had arrested many youth after the clashes on Friday in the town.
