Ansul to Produce Specialty Firefighting Foam for Williams Fire & Hazard.

MARINETTE, Wis., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ --

Ansul Incorporated has partnered with Williams Fire & Hazard Control, Inc. to co-develop a revolutionary new alcohol-resistant AFFF firefighting foam agent call ThunderStorm(TM) 1x3 ATC. The foam concentrate is designed for use on polar solvent type fuels at a 3% proportioning rate and for hydrocarbon fuels at a 1% proportioning rate.

"ThunderStorm 1x3 ATC was developed with the refinery customer in mind, their emergency response requirements and the type of flammable liquid fuels they handle and store. The logistics of moving foam, water, hoses and associated equipment in an emergency fire situation is greatly reduced with the 1x3 product," mentions Steve Grisko, Ansul manager, Foam Business Development. "In addition, Ansul now has a partner in Williams Fire & Hazard, which has years of experience in emergency response firefighting and the specific needs of the PetroChemical marketplace."

ThunderStorm 1x3 ATC has successfully gone through rigorous testing that not only includes comprehensive UL Listings on hydrocarbon and polar solvent fuels, but also the Williams Fire & Hazard foam "plunge" test, which is a test method that actually throws or plunges the foam solution into the burning fuel. This test uses actual "premium" grade -high octane unleaded gasoline and reflects the application methods actually used on real world tank fires.

"We saw this as an opportunity to build a foam the way we've wanted it built for a long time," explained Dwight Williams, president of Williams Fire & Hazard Control. "Ansul for many years has been well-regarded in the industry. They are top shelf all the way, and we're very pleased to be associated with them."
