Another national award for the Bar's #JustAdulting app.
The Florida Bar's Law Related Education Committee was honored recently with a Luminary Award from the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) Communications Section.
The award recognizes the outstanding work among bar communications professionals nationwide. The Florida Bar was recognized for excellence in communication for special projects for large bars for the #JustAdulting campaign. The mobile web app, video, and other components introduces students to the legal realities of turning 18.

Francine Walker, director of the Bar's Public Information and Bar Services Department, and Jeff Doran, staff for the Law Related Education Committee, discussed the #JustAdulting program at a breakout session at the NABE Communication Section Workshop, in Savannah, Georgia.
The award and breakout session were presented on October 20, before a national audience of communications professionals. Representatives from several states have expressed a great interest in modifying the app to use for students in their respective states. On making the presentation, one of the judges of the competition stated, "This is awesome. Great plan and execution. This is hip and relevant and well-executed."
The app is designed to be shared on today's leading social media networks.
"Quick access to information is what today's teens want and need," said Sheri Hazeltine, chair of The Florida Bar's Law Related Education Committee. "Our committee designed the new mobile app so young adults can find important legal information regarding drinking laws, driving, texting while driving, and a long list of important topics."
Additional resources, including an infographic, video, and a PowerPoint quiz presentation, are available at www.floridabar. org/justadulting. The Legal Survival Guide for New Adults is also available for download from www.floridabar.org/justadulting.
