Annual holiday concert coming next weekend.

Byline: The Register-Guard

CORRECTION (ran 11/30/04): The Fiero and Lyrica ensembles from Oregon Festival Choirs will sing during Hult Center lobby activities before the Eugene Concert Choir's Dec. 5 Christmas concert. A story on page G5 Sunday listed an incorrect group singing at that time.

The Eugene Concert Choir will sing holiday favorites, Christmas carols and excerpts from Benjamin Britten's St. Nicholas Cantata in "An Old-Fashioned Christmas" concert, an annual event that sold out the Hult Center's Silva Hall last year.

This year's performance will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. Pre-concert festivities will begin at 1 p.m. in the Hult Center lobby.

These will include wassail and cookies, decorating activities, a brass ensemble, choral music by the Oregon Young Women's Choir and a carol sing-along.

Diane Retallack will direct her 100-voice choir and elite Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble (in Renaissance dress) in a program that also will involve the Don Latarski Band, singer Darlene Jackson, the Oregon Young Women's Choir (directed by Paul Westlund), the Lyrica and Fiero ensembles from the Oregon Festival Choirs (directed by Peter Robb), the Oregon Mozart Players and La Vida Royale, a brass ensemble consisting of Ellen Campbell on horn, Dave Bender and Richard Berg on trumpet, Glenn Griffith on trombone and Michael Grose on tuba.

Soloists for the Britten cantata will be tenor Guy Aydelott and Caleb Leuck.

Tickets are $28 for the general public, $24 for seniors and students in section A, $23/$18 in section B and $15/$10 in section C. The box office number is 682-5000.
