Ankara film festival announces national competition lineup.

ySTANBUL (CyHAN)- Nine recently released Turkish films will be running for awards in the national feature competition of this year's Ankara International Film Festival, the organizers announced on Wednesday.

The preliminary jury had initially selected 10 films for the competition, but one of them was withdrawn from the running by its director because the head of this year's competition jury had supported the film during its production, the Ankara-based World Mass Media Research Foundation said in a press release.

Festival organizers praised director Nesimi Yetik's ethical awareness in removing his film "Toz Ruhu" (Spirit of Dust) from the competition, whose panel of judges will be headed by director Onur E[pounds sterling]nlE-.

The remaining nine films in competition announced on Wednesday were "Annemin E[currency]arkysy" (Song of My Mother), directed by Erol MintaE-; "Asasyz Musa" (Moses Without the Rod), by Aydyn Orak; "Balyk" (Fish), by DerviE- Zaim; "EcekmekE[micro]y Underground," by Aysim TE-rkmen; "Day- Ecicey-i" (Mountain Flower), by Caner Canerik; "Firak," by Halil Euzer; "ycimdeki ynsan" (The Human Within Me), by Aydyn Sayman; "Neden Tarkovski Olamyyorum?" (Why Can't I Be Tarkovsky?), by Murat DE-zgE-noy-lu; and "Sesime Gel" (Come to My Voice), by HE-seyin Karabey.

The films will be vying for awards in 18 categories, and the winners will be announced on May 2. The 26th Ankara International Film Festival will run from April 23 through May 3.
