Angling: Dewhurst delight.

Byline: DAVE HOUGHTON

ALAN DEWHURST (Fisherman's Tackle Birkenhead) concentrates his match fishing effort on tackling the Match Lake at Lingmere Fisheries and gets great rewards.

His name appears on the winner's list regularly and he certainly covers his expenses, just like his latest win with 80lb 8oz of carp and barbel, all caught on pellet bait and a 16 metre-long pole.

Another man with the same sponsor is Steve Open shaw (Fisherman's Tackle Birkenhead) who snaffled first place in the midweek open with 67lb 12oz.

His was an all-carp catch caught on pellet, high in the water, on a 14 metre pole from an island swim.

Meanwhile, Widnes matchman Bill Fairclough won the Meadow View OAPS sweepstake on Lark Pool with a level 62lb thanks to a bag of common carp caught on pole and luncheon meat.
