Anger as coach firm goes bust.

Byline: STEPHEN HAYWARD

THOUSANDS of day-trippers are out of pocket after one of the country's biggest coach firms collapsed.

Diamond Coaches - which specialised in theatre breaks and day-trips to the UK and Europe - has left debts of several millions.

It blamed a fall in bookings and "ongoing economic challenges".

Cutsomers who booked packages involving an overnight stay should get their money back through the firm's holiday protection scheme. But day-trippers are not covered.

The Swansea-based firm said it stopped taking bookings on New Year's Eve. But angry customers said cash was being taken for existing bookings until Friday - the day administrators were called in.

One, Kathryn Davey, of Llanelli, said: "We're unlikely to get a refund... and we spent more than pounds 700."
