Anembarrassingact; LETTERS.

I WAS sorry to read in the Racing Post (October 9) that the BHA adjudged it "in the best interests of the sport" to allow Sheikh Fahad Al Thani to register similar colours to an existing owner - and, for that matter, allowing a design configuration, braid, that was forbidden for new registrations some years ago.

It is difficult to respect a ruling body that follows more than one set of rules.

I, too, greatly applaud the sheikh's involvement in racing, his enthusiasm and his generosity, but this latest act of weakness by the BHA is damaging and embarrassing.

Sport is about a level playing field for one and all, regardless of other factors. Let's keep it that way.
