Andrea: I'm not a bunny girl.

TV beauty Andrea Catherwood spoke last night of her delight at becoming the new face of Channel 5 News, but declared: "I'm no TV bunny."

In an exclusive interview with The Irish Mirror the 31-year-old Belfast-born newsgirl, who began her new job this week, insisted that she isn't interested in becoming a celebrity like Kirsty Young.

She said: "I don't really fancy it. I've always been a journalist and I've never really thought of myself going down that route. I'm certainly not out to seek masses of publicity.

"On the other hand I totally accept that if you're the face of a channel you may have to do some things like that."

Bachelor girl Andrea - formerly a weekend news presenter on ITV - admitted that she's going to be compared with Kirsty, who quit Channel 5 at Christmas.

She insists: "I've got masses of respect for Kirsty. But I'm definitely much more . . . I'm a journalist."
