Anadarko Petroleum (Andarko) (NYSE: APC ), a United States-based independent oil and gas exploration and production company, has identified a reserve of 2.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas at the Greater Natural Buttes field southeast of Vernal.

The company's exploratory 20-acre well spacing determined that additional resources can be extracted with tighter 10-acre well spacings in the present field.

The oil and gas exploration major has received permit for the 10-acre downspacing in at least two subareas of the Greater Natural Buttes field prior to the Energy Symposium at Western Park in Vernal last week.
