Ana hits heights in Oaks thriller.

ANAPURNA (8-1) needed both class and guts to land the Investec Oaks for John Gosden at Epsom.

Frankie Dettori was happy to bide his time on the filly as Lavender's Blue set a surprisingly tepid pace in the Classic.

The daughter of Frankel was short of room two out but that looked academic when Pink Dogwood (3-1) powered into the lead in the final furlong.

However, a gap came in time and Anapurna showed a potent turn of foot to overhaul her rival by a neck close home.

Fleeting (25-1) stayed on well for third while 11-4 jolly Mehdaayih was very disappointing in seventh.

Dettori said: "She was very courageous. The hill was coming and I was always getting him. Beautiful!

"My first Classic winner was 25 years ago and I'm still here!"
