An evening with the Elgorts.

On Nov. 17, Surface and Pratt Institute co-hosted "An Evening with the Elgorts," a discussion between photographer Arthur Elgort, producer and choreographer Grethe Barrett Holby, photographer Sophie Elgort, film writer and director Warren Elgort, and actor Ansel Elgort. The panel, which was moderated by Surface editor-in-chief Spencer Bailey, explored each family member's respective practice and delved into how the arts have been intertwined with the Elgort family's life. Ansel described that he is "not really comfortable in front of the camera. It's still a nerve-racking thing to have a camera in front of your face." His father seemed surprised. Sophie responded by saying, "Sometimes [my father] didn't even tell you and would just start clicking. Like at the breakfast table, the basket of napkins also had cameras in it."
