Amplitude and Puma Technology Announce Licensing Agreement to Synchronize Personal, Internet and Enterprise Calendars; Web-Enabled Tool Provides Universal Access to Calendar Information.
Amplitude(TM), a leading provider of Internet-based calendaring and resource scheduling solutions, announced a licensing agreement with Puma Technology (NASDAQ:PUMA), a leading provider of mobile device management and synchronization software, to provide Intellisync(R) for EventCenter(R), Amplitude's Internet calendar, through Puma's Intellisync Software Development Kit (SDK). Intellisync for EventCenter will enable users to synchronize event information from community Internet calendars, enterprise calendars and personal calendars. Individuals will be able to create a unique, personal, and up to-date integrated view of the dates and events that are the most important to them.
"Amplitude is committed to empowering people to live their lives on Internet time. We have licensed Puma's Intellisync synchronization software to ensure that our customers will have a fast, reliable and efficient way of staying connected to the calendaring information that is most important to them." said Randall Sosnick, founder, president and CEO of Amplitude. "Whether they synchronize their personal calendars with a public Internet calendar or a corporate intranet calendar, people can now be assured of being at the right place at the right time."
The World of Calendaring
Over the past year, the number of people who use electronic calendars to manage their personal and professional lives has exploded. However, this popularity has created many disparate sources of calendar information. Internet calendars found on portal sites provide information about cultural events, sporting activities or community information. Enterprise calendars, which reside on a corporate intranets, unite corporate event information such as marketing programs, training classes, and product schedules. And Personal Information Managers (PIMs), including Outlook(TM) or portable hand-held devices like the Palm Computing(R) platform products, provide desktop or handheld access to personal appointments and meetings. Each of these calendars contain valuable information, but without synchronization, individuals are forced to maintain three separate calendars.
Unified Calendar Solution at Last
The integration of Intellisync with EventCenter takes electronic calendars to the next level. EventCenter allows users to synchronize events from Internet calendars, enterprise calendars and desktop and handheld calendars, to create a single source for all professional and personal events. The power of EventCenter is its ability to provide one comprehensive calendar that can be accessed and updated via the Internet. Now with Intellisync for EventCenter, business meetings or personal appointments can be entered and updated via a PIM or handheld device when Internet access is not available, and can then be synchronized with training classes, trade shows or other corporate events in real-time via the Internet. Users can search for events of interest on a community or an enterprise calendar and then synchronize these events into their desktop or handheld calendar. EventCenter allows events to be added or modified in the calendar that best meets the needs of the user, and then synchronizes these events for a single source of calendar information.
This integration of Intellisync and EventCenter also eliminates the challenge mobile workers face in keeping up-to-date scheduling information at their fingertips. EventCenter can be updated from anywhere with an Internet connection, offering maximum flexibility for workers on the go. For example, a mobile professional may enter a business appointment into a Palm Computing platform device and then synchronize with EventCenter so that his or her manager can see the schedule. Or a user may choose a sporting event from a community Internet calendar like Lycos' MyTime.com, and then synchronize that event into their desktop calendar, to be sure not to miss the big game.
"With increasing numbers of mobile corporate and individual consumers demanding access to web-based calendaring information via handheld devices, we have worked to support companies such as Amplitude with our Intellisync SDK," said Puma President and CEO, Brad Rowe. "EventCenter is extremely valuable to the enterprise and the individual consumer, and we are happy to provide users with Intellisync's robust synchronization capabilities."
