Amkor Technology Selects Electroglas EG6000 300mm Wafer Prober.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Electroglas, Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLS), a leading supplier of wafer probers and prober-based test handling solutions for the semiconductor industry, today announced that Amkor Technology (Nasdaq:AMKR), Chandler, AZ, has selected the Electroglas EG6000 for 300mm wafer probing. This decision followed an extended production trial and was based upon the superior technology, performance, and cost of ownership of the EG6000.

Lenny French, Amkor's Director of Test Operations in Taiwan, said, "The EG6000 has proven to be a very competitive wafer probe platform. For the production trial, we ran over one thousand 300mm bumped wafers of high-end flip chip product. With the EG6000, we saw improvements in both throughput and yield. We anticipate that the advanced technology in this prober, such as active vibration control, will continue to provide performance advantages for our current and future applications."

Tom Rohrs, Chairman and CEO, Electroglas said: "Amkor has long been a global leader in assembly and test. They have continued to push the state-of-the-art for high volume manufacturing efficiency. We are pleased that this production trial has confirmed that our exclusive 300mm technology provides significant benefits for Amkor's advanced bumped wafer applications. We look forward to continuing to work together with Amkor."
