American Nurses Foundation: Scholarship Recipients.

Congratulations to Julia Byrne, the recipient of a $1000 scholarship from the American Nurses Foundation, a matching funds program made possible through the generosity of Fresenius Kabi and the American Nurse Project. Ms. Byrne, a leader in nursing, is a 2016 graduate of the BSN program at the University of Colorado College of Nursing and has a previous degree in Marketing and Business Administration. An involved and engaged volunteer in community and service activities, Ms. Byrne's educational interests included rural and underserved care. In 2015, the Colorado Nurses Foundation awarded Ms. Byrne a $1000 CNA/Civica Management Nightingale scholarship. Ms. Byrne is now working as a float pool RN in ortho/spine, med/ surg and telemetry in rural Durango, Colorado.

Congratulations to Cory Jorgensen, a member of an underrepresented group in nursing, the recipient of a $1000 scholarship from the American Nurses Foundation, a matching funds program made possible through the generosity of Fresenius Kabi and the American Nurse Project. Mr. Jorgensen, an Emergency Medical Technician, is a graduate of the CHOICE BSN program at Regis University. Mr. Jorgensen's educational interest focused on providing culturally competent care. His long term goals include becoming either a Nurse Practitioner or a CRNA. In 2015, the Colorado Nurses Foundation awarded Mr. Jorgensen the $1000 DNA 16 Eleanor Bent scholarship. Mr. Jorgensen is currently practicing in the Emergency Department of the Lutheran Medical Center in Wheatridge, Colorado.
