American Handgunner Postal Match draws 5,000 shooters.

Over 5,000 shooters worldwide competed in American Handgunner magazine's 1992 International Postal Match, making it the largest International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC)-sanctioned match ever. The 1992 Match was won by Greg Kerce of the Northern Illinois Shooters Association.

The number of competitors this year was more than double the 2,000 pistol shooters drawn by last years's match.

For the second year running, match directors from around the world were invited to host American Handgunner's Postal Match using rules and a course of fire approved by IPSC.

"This is a dream match of the average shooter because he or she can compte with the world's best shooters without qualifying or ever having to travel far from home," said Cameron Hopkins, editor of the magazine.

Individual scores from each match were forwarded to American Handgunner where they will be processed to determine the 1992 International Postal Match Champion.

Response to the match was so overwhelming that published results originally scheduled to appear in the Nov./Dec. issue of American Handgunner will be delayed an issue with the top 1,000 shooters instead being listed in the Jan./Feb. 1993 issue.
