American Airlines pays USD22m to pensions plans.

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

American Airlines has made a USD22m contribution to its defined benefit pension plans.

The airline said that this is in addition to the more than USD287m American Airlines has contributed to its defined benefit plans earlier this year. The latest contribution brings total contributions in 2005 to USD310m and completes the company's contributions to the plans for this year.

American Airlines has also claimed that with its defined benefit pension plans currently funded at 80%, the airline has the best-funded defined benefit plans in the industry.
