AmeriCold Logistics Opens First International Facility In Joint Venture With Lamb-Weston.

Following its strategic plan of aggressive expansion into new markets, AmeriCold Logistics, the largest U.S. provider of temperature-controlled storage and food distribution services, began operating its first international warehousing and distribution facility in Taber, Alberta, Canada recently.

The new 4.8 million cubic foot Taber facility is owned by Lamb-Weston, one of the world's largest frozen potato processors. "We chose AmeriCold to be our operating partner because of their innovative information technology services, comprehensive transportation and distribution plans, and their management expertise. They offer a complete package of logistical services that enables us to provide our customers with the best service at the lowest possible cost. It also allows us to focus our energies on our core manufacturing strengths," said Larry Shipp, VP of Logistical Operations for Lamb-Weston.

Hal Justice, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing for AmeriCold said, "Our companies have been working on this project for a long time and it is great to see the culmination of that hard work come together with the opening of this facility. We look forward to expanding our services to Lamb-Weston and helping them continue to build their business."

The new site is specifically designed for the storage, packing and distribution of potato products for industrial, foodservice, and retail customers. The storage warehouse is located adjacent to the Lamb-Weston production plant which enables their conveyor belt system to deliver product directly into the storage center. The Taber facility serves as a key distribution center for the shipment of potato products throughout Canada and for export to the U.S. and other countries.

AmeriCold Logistics, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, employs over 6,000 people in 104 facilities, including regional, consolidated and dedicated distribution centers throughout the U.S. and in Canada, handling more than 7.2 million cases per day and serving over 3,500 customers including every major food manufacturer in the country

Lamb-Weston is the largest supplier of potato products in North America. A wholly-owned subsidiary of ConAgra, they have over 5,000 employees, eight sales offices in six countries, and 13 plants that process well over six billion pounds of potatoes annually
