Amended draft law of PBTA prepared.
LAHORE -- Advisor to Chief Minister on health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has said the amended draft law of Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority (PBTA) has been prepared for ensuring availability of healthy blood to patients and safe blood transfusion in the province.
Presiding over a meeting for discussing clauses of amended draft law of PBTA, here on Monday, he said that after scrutiny of draft law by the Law Department, it would be presented in the next session of the Punjab Assembly for approval.
Khawaja Salman Rafiq directed that immediate meeting of technical members of Board of PBTA should be convened on Tuesday, January 13 for further discussing the proposed draft law so that these members could give final shape to it.
He said strict legislation would be carried out for taking strict action against illegal blood banks so that those playing with the precious human lives could be awarded deterrent punishment.
The advisor thanked Consultant German Institution GIZ Paul Kohorrt for providing technical assistance in preparing draft law.
On this occasion, Paul Kohorrt said that Dr. Aleena would visit Lahore in February to provide training to blood inspectors, haematologists nominated by PBTA and focal persons appointed at district level who would provide training to master trainers.
The meeting discussed new draft law in detail which was attended by Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik, Secretary PBTA Dr Jaffar Saleem, Haematologist Dr Jaweria, Law Officers of Punjab Health Department and other concerned officers.
