Amdahl Software Announces New Pricing Levels.

Business Editors

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2001

Lowers Costs for Large Users of Enterprise

Operating Systems Software

Amdahl Software today announced that it will implement new pricing levels that lower the costs of its enterprise operating systems software.

The new levels are effective immediately and will affect the company's data migration, replication and business continuance products.

"The scaled-pricing structure will coordinate software costs with the growth of large systems," according to Sandy Curry, Amdahl Software CFO. "Costs will be reduced by as much as 25% for the largest enterprise users, based on the number of MSUs (millions of service units). This new incremental pricing is in line with what is becoming the standard in the software business. It benefits the customer who realizes a cost break and Amdahl Software, which will increase volumes."

"This is another example of how we are positioning ourselves as a vendor of choice," said Steven F. X. Murphy, President of Amdahl Software. "We are offering customers the industry's best quality products at the most competitive price. As IT systems have grown larger, customer software costs have increased along with them. These new pricing levels are the result of a normal business review, which includes customer feedback and market demand.

"The e-commerce environment is forcing customers to create huge storage farms and manage complex networks," added Murphy. "As a result, Amdahl Software is focusing on simplifying that process," said Murphy. "This industry-uniform pricing is another step in our simplification strategy."

Amdahl Software is successfully installed and utilized by more than half of the top Fortune 500 companies. Nine out of the top 10 of Fortune 500 telecommunications firms use TDMF(TM) software, the first vendor-independent, transparent data migration software product.
