A new 141-unit assisted-living facility has opened in Nesconset.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for the new Amber Court Assisted Living of Smithtown at 130 Lake Ave. South.

The $36 million development is Westbury-based Amber Court's second assisted-living facility on Long Island and its fifth in the New York metropolitan area.

The three-story, 100,000-square-foot Nesconset building sits on 7 acres and will employ about 100 people, according to an Amber Court spokeswoman. It features a wellness suite, technology hub, fitness center, three separate dining rooms, a bistro, general store and a cinema.

Amber Court Executive Vice President Claire Bukzin-Hakim said the new facility is already fully occupied.

"We are overjoyed to be part of this wonderful Smithtown community," Bukzin-Hakim said in a written statement. "Amber Court Assisted Living is a family business that values personal relationships. From the start, everyone we met with in Smithtown was enthusiastic about our dream to offer seniors state-of-the-art amenities in elegant yet affordable surroundings."
